1. There were several things that were discussed in the first class meeting that I had previous knowledge of. I knew how to use the Google search engine, including how search results are ranked. I have also used the Google Earth application in the past to get directions and to preview some famous landmarks. I also knew how to use blogs, having experience with social networking sites such as Myspace and Xanga.
2. I was not aware of the Google Book Search service nor the Google Scholar service.
3. Three important elements that need to be considered when using the internet as a tool in research are objectivity, the qualifications of the author, and the date the information was published or updated.
4. I believe that being cautious is imperative when using the internet for research. On the other hand, the internet is a very convenient way to get plenty of information in a short amount of time.

Great start. I'm glad to mightlearn what you knew already and what is new to you.
I find the Web useful and convenient as well. I think you mean "Web," though. The Internet is something different, isn't it?
